THE BREATHING TECHNIQUE by Zoe Willowsong It's exactly what it says it is. Breathing. And it works really, really well. You don't need to have anything, but it's nice to have a candle (or 6 or 20...lol) or a stone you feel strong positive energy from, or a pendulum... or whatever makes you comfortable. Soft music is helpful, or dead silence. Again, whatever is comfortable. Sit cross-legged or in a comfy chair, with a straight back, and if your hands are empty, rest them palms down wherever they are comfortable. Now... all you have to know how to do is count. Can you count to 8? Good. Close your eyes, relax. Clear your mind. And breathe... counting slowly (in your head) to 4 when you breathe in, and counting at the same pace to 8 as you breathe out. After you've done this several times, you will realize that you feel lighter, you will feel more relaxed, and you won't have to keep counting, nor will you have to keep breathing so deeply. This method is the one that works best for me. I was also told that this method can be used to induce lucid dreams. Once in the meditative state, you can fall asleep and into a dream which you have control over. I have yet to reach this feat, but let me know if it works for you. |

by Selene Sit comfortably or lie down (no sleeping though!). If sitting, make sure to sit up straight. Begin by taking some deep, slow breaths. Then imagine the base of your spine extending down into the centre of the Earth. Once you feel firmly rooted, start to count your breaths. Count every time you exhale, count to 10 then start over. Keep doing this until you can’t really tell where your hands are (I like to put my hands on my knees, and at this point, I can’t tell if my hands are on the floor or on my knees). Then imagine a bright ball of light shining just above you (or in front of you). Feel the light shining on your face. Then pull a ribbon of light from the ball, and imagine yourself ‘inserting’ it into the top of your head. Imagine the ribbon getting pulled through you, lighting your entire body up as it goes along. ‘Pull’ the ribbon out from the soles of your feet and allow it to rejoin the ball of light creating one big, glowing loop. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and observe any images that might come up, or any words that might flash in your mind. Or just allow yourself to be filled with a happy, and light feeling. |
